Non-Profits: Create a Portrait on PittsburghGives

Organizations in PittsburghGives must meet the following criteria:
  • Must be a public nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status
  • Must be in the Western Pennsylvania region or serve a significant portion of the population of Western Pennsylvania (Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.)
  • File an IRS Form 990  with annual revenues of $25,000 or more or file a 990 postcard if annual revenues are less than $25,000. 3 years of 990s and audits (or financials statements if your organization does not have an audits) are required.
  • After verifying your organization's 501(c)(3) status,  a PittsburghGives staff member will review your request and contact you in order to assign a username and password.

PittsburghGives
is an online self-entry process that takes approx. 15-20 hours of your staff time.  You will enter information about your organization's programs, needs, board, history, etc.  The Pittsburgh Foundation will verify and enter information in the financial section and the portrait will undergo a review before publication.

PittsburghGives
coaches are available to support you through the portrait process.  Generally, we require that you complete your portrait within 3 to 4 weeks of receiving a request.

To begin a PittsburghGives portrait, please email your organization's name, contact person, and and a copy of your organization's IRS letter of determination to Kelly Uranker, Philanthropic Resources Manager at urankerk@pghfdn.org.  Note that a portrait must be complete before it is made viewable to the public.  Once a portrait is created, it may be updated as often as desired and at a minimum of once a year.

The 2012 workshop schedule will be released and posted in February 2012.
